Hand in hand

The old have experience - insight to what was and how it come to pass.
The young have enthusiasm - momentum for what is just ahead.

Enthusiasm without the wisdom of experience can lead to projects that crash and burn.
Experience without enthusiasm can lead to projects never getting off the ground.

Old folks...or should I say "seasoned" citizens that are continually harping on the way things were, can kill hope for the future.

Young people living and worshiping the ways things are, can be wounded if the lessons of history go unheeded

Young and old need each other.

Thank God for youth!
Praise Him for old age!

Experience and Enthusiasm will embrace and live happily ever after.

So what expression do you use for such an outpouring of love and Grace?

I do know that God showed up and showed out this past week end at the Outdoor Expo. All was culminated at the YOUTH QUAKE Sunday night. Over 270 students from all around the Lake Fork area were in attendance as our own praise team "Set Apart" led us in worship, Evangelist Jay Lowder brought a tremendous message,
and when it was all over, 54 students and 4 adults came to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. To God be the glory!

Thousands of slices of pizza were served, and hundreds of cold drinks were consumed. (Some even through someone else's sock) YUK!!! Whose idea was that anyway???

Congratulations to our grand prize winners,
  • Tripp Hogue - PS 3, extra controller and games
  • Micah Moore - Dodge pick up! (When you see him, ask he to turn up the "sweet new sound system")

How about AWESOME! Our God is an AWESOME God!

Well, summer has certainly arrived. The near 100 degree temps are not supposed to be here yet. But, along with those high temps come summer activities. Camps, (WILD WEEK in 6 days), mission trips, (the Valley in 6 weeks), D-Nows, and before you know it....you'll get that call from your coach reminding you of "2 a days."

With all the stuff going on let's not forget the "2 a days" that keep us in shape spiritually. Reading God's Word (His way of talking to us) and prayer (us talking to Him) will keep our hearts and minds in the best possible condition. And when we add telling others about Jesus, we get in the best shape of our lives!

I hope everyone has a tremendous summer vacation, but remember to stay in shape spiritually. You'll be glad you did!

Saying "good bye" is one of the hardest things we have to do, so I don't do that anymore. "So Long" is better. "Good bye" has a finality to it, "so long" has an "I'll see you later" ring that I like much better.

Last night I said "so long"to a great bunch of students that I have had the privilege of being associated with for a very long time. They are moving on to further their education, whether it be in institutions of higher learning, or in pursuit of a career they have chosen. This I know, each of them had an air of confidence that was exhibited in bright smiles. By their own testimonies, that confidence was not in themselves, but in their LORD and Savior.

I would like to be able to say that I have influenced their lives in some way. But the truth is, they have influenced me. They have constantly challenged me with their hunger for God's Word and their desire to have a deeper knowledge of Him. Their courage and energy have kept me on my toes and caused me to rethink some of the ways that were deeply embedded in my 'four times older than they are' mind and body.

As I look farther down the road I see a group of young men and women who will do whatever it takes to impact their world for Jesus Christ. It's because of their faith that I can say "so long", for I know I will see them again. Either here, there, or in the air.

A huge and hearty "THANK YOU" is in order to all of our church family for your support of our youth. Valentine's day truly brought out the LOVE as you gave so generously to help send our kids to camp. We trust you enjoyed the spaghetti, and the laughter. It was our pleasure to serve you!

The highlight of the day was the smiles on the faces of our King and Queen, Rusty and Loretta Bell. What a tremendous blessing they have been to us. Their generous spirit is only exceeded by their prayers, encouragement, and warm smiles.
It was our distinct privilege, and honor to serve them.

Congratulations to Charles Clark who's guess was the closest to the number of Red Hots, Hot Tamales, and Hershey's Hearts in the vase. If you are interested the total number was 1541, Charles guessed 1504. Not only did he win ALL of the candy, (which I'm sure he's eaten by now), in addition, he won dinner for two at a local restaurant.

Thanks again, Ya'll are GREAT!

Glory to God in the Hightest

To all of you, from the depth of our hearts, Sandy and I want to wish you the merriest of Christmases, and an absolutely blessed new year.

What a tremendous year God gave us in '09. It has long been our prayer that He do things that only He can receive credit and praise for. He has proven Himself over and over again and we give Him glory!

Trusting Him to do it again, in 2010!
